Abstract
As digital literacy is emphasized in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, there are national-level studies on elementary and middle school students, but research on digital literacy for pre-service teachers who will guide them is insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the need for digital literacy education through the difference in the importance and practice of digital literacy targeting preservice teachers attending graduate schools of education. The data of 81 pre-service teachers who faithfully responded to the questionnaire were used for analysis, targeting 161 pre-service teachers who are enrolled in the training course of A graduate school of education located in the metropolitan area. A t-test was conducted for 6 areas and 30 questions of digital literacy along with descriptive statistics. In addition, IPA matrix and Borich need analysis by area were conducted to derive digital literacy education needs. The result is: First, as a result of conducting the t-test by area, the importance in all six areas was found to be statistically significantly higher than the performance level. Second, in the IPA Matrix analysis and Borich's needs analysis, the area of technical application was found to be the most urgent in common, followed by critical thinking, learning interaction, information utilization and compositional ability, meti cognition, and problem solving ability. Third, as a result of conducting a t-test for each 30 items, the importance was statistically significantly higher than the performance in all items. Fourth, IPA matrix and Borich need analysis were conducted for each 30 items to derive specific digital literacy education needs. The level of educational need was high in 2 questions of technical use, 2 questions of learning interaction, and 1 question of critical interaction. Based on these results, specific efforts for the operation of subject and extracurricular curriculum and provision of guidelines for improving digital literacy for pre-service teachers of graduate schools of education and the implications for effective operation by area and item were discussed.
