Effects of a Patient Safety Prevention Program for Nursing Assistants a Preparatory Student for a Qualification Examination

Abstract

The purposed of this study was to identify the effects of a patient safety prevention program to subjects preparing for the nursing assistant exam. This is a similar experimental study with a one group pretest-posttest design to determine the effect by measuring the differences in learning motivation regulation, educational achievements, and educational satisfaction before and after the program. The study subjects were 47 people who agreed to participate in the study. The program was conducted for 120 minutes once a week, for 7 weeks. The main contents are the concept of patient safety prevention, medical quality, patient safety law, types and prevention of medical accidents, practice of patient safety management (infection, communication, patient identification, medicine management, food poisoning, falls), facility and fire management. This study was conducted from March to June 2022, Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 22.0 version. After the patient safety prevention program, learning motivation regulation and education achievements were significantly improved. Educational satisfaction averaged 4.5 out of 5. It is intended to be used as an essential program for patient safety prevention activities. Nursing assistants a preparatory student for a qualification examination will be able to improve their ability to perform patient safety through the patient safety prevention program.
